3-Time World Champion Adriel Young

3-Time World Champion Adriel Young

Welcome to episode 102 of the Löw Tide Böyz - A Swimrun Podcast!

This week we have the 3-time ÖTILLÖ World Champion Adriel Young on the show. For those who don’t know Adriel, he’s a Swimrunner whose legend is being written as we speak…and also happens to be one of the nicest guys in the sport. We caught up with him at the start of his holiday and had a great chat.

But first...

Training Update

The end of the off-season is nigh! It’s almost time to start getting back to work for our build to ÖTILLÖ Catalina and we predict a lot of steep hill work in our near future.

Shoutouts

This week we’re shouting out our newest member on Patreon, Molly Erker. Thank you so much for the support. We really, really, really appreciate it!

Speaking of Patreon…we are going to start beefing up our engagement on that platform for our super fans. Starting in a few weeks we will start hosting quarterly virtual meetups on Zoom, set up webinars with coaches, race directors and other personalities in the Swimrun space, give phat discounts on LTBz swag, and do random giveaways throughout the year. Really we’re just trying to give back more to the folks that help us keep the lights on. Want some of that action? Go to patreon.com/lowtideboyz to learn more.

Feats of Endurance

This week’s award goes to Simrranvier Rana from Thailand. Sim is our first Strava Club member from Thailand and he’s planning on doing his first Swimrun next year.

Check out and join our Strava Club and join Swimrunners from around the world as they train for Swimruns and life.

This Week In Swimrun

We have a short update this week.

A friendly reminder that the registration window is now open for teams seeking to race ÖTILLÖ, The Swimrun World Championship. Best of luck to everyone trying to qualify for the original Swimrun.

Don’t know what we’re talking about? Check out our podcast episode all about qualifying for ÖTILLÖ.

In other news, Ödyssey Swimrun has released their list of 2022 events and dates. Casco Bay will be held on July 17th about a month earlier than in previous years. Mackinac Island will take place on August 28th. Orcas Island is happening on September 18th. Closing out the year, Austin will take place on November 6th. Unfortunately, the Luddington event is not going to have a second edition in 2022. Registration is opening soon, so make sure that you’ve signed up for the Ödyssey newsletter to stay on top of the early bird registration prices.

That’s it for this week. Make sure to tip us off if there is any news that you’d like for us to share on the show.

Updates

Our new headwear is here! Head over to our shop to see our new hats and beanies. They won’t arrive in time for Christmas but that’s ok.

Our latest episode of Gear Talk is out! In this show, The Swimrun Labs and us review the Ark Sports Keel s pull buoy. Check it out to find out why we think that there’s not much “s” about it!

Adriel Young

We are super stoked to have 3-time World Champion Adriel Young on the show. There are too many superlatives that we could use to describe Adriel so we’ll just say that he’s pretty cool. We had a lot of fun chatting with him about his epic 2021 Swimrun season, his Swimrun “training,” why Oscar Olsson is such a legend (this is definitely a “game recognize game” situation), and why this year’s World Championship was so special. We keep saying this of pretty much all our guests but it’s true, Adriel is a great ambassador for the sport and we love his energy and enthusiasm for Swimrun.

You can follow Adriel on Instagram.

That’s it for this week’s show. If you are enjoying the Löw Tide Böyz, be sure to subscribe to the show on your favorite podcast player and leave us a five-star review.
